Violence in video games is as old as video games themselves and can serve a legitimate gameplay purpose. Violence in a video game context is allowed on Core. However, highly gratuitous violence and content that promotes violence based on race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity are not allowed.
Violence
- Games or content containing the following may be subject to moderation and removal/ban:
- Focus on injury, violence, killing, or torture without context.
- Exclusive focus on injury, violence, killing, or torture.
- Real-life imagery depicting the killing, torture, or death of humans.
- Real-life imagery of animal hunting/killing with a focus on violence, animal suffering, sacrifice, or death.
- Any type of sexual assault, violence, or abuse.
- Any type of violence that violates Core’s discrimination or hateful content policy.
- Realistic or gratuitous violence involving children, even if only dramatized or fictional.
- Violence in the context of sensitive issues such as terrorist or extremist acts, real armed conflict, mass civilian shootings, school shootings, or other tragic, controversial, or sensitive events.
Graphic Content (Gore, etc.)
- Games or content containing the following may be subject to moderation and removal/ban:
- Focus on injury, blood, or other graphic content without context.
- Exclusive focus on extreme or gratuitous gore or other graphic content.
- Real-life imagery depicting blood, organs, gore, animal harm, human or animal waste, or sexual fluids.
- Real-life imagery depicting dead humans.
- Any type of graphic content that violates Core’s discrimination or hateful content policy.
- Any type of graphic containing real-life violence involving children, even if only dramatized or fictional.
- Any content depicting sensitive issues such as terrorist or extremist acts, real armed conflict, mass shootings, school shootings, or other tragic, controversial, or sensitive events.
