Core Code of Conduct

Core Code of Conduct

We are on Core to play, share, and create incredible experiences, many of which have never existed before. We expect all Core users – both creators and players – to abide by the following rules and guidelines (also listed here):

No nudity or overtly sexual content

Overtly sexual content or sexual content with no clear gameplay purpose is not allowed on Core. This includes nudity, sexual violence, and content promoting the exploitation of any kind.

No highly gratuitous violence

Violence in video games is as old as video games themselves and can serve a legitimate gameplay purpose. Violence in a video game context is allowed on Core. However, highly gratuitous violence and content that promotes violence based on race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity are not allowed.

No harmful, illegal, or dangerous content

You may not make content that promotes harmful, illegal, or dangerous behavior. This includes content promoting self-harm, and instructions on how to engage in illegal behavior, harassment, cyberbullying, or impersonation.

mceclip3.png

No content that endangers child safety

We do not tolerate content that could put children in inappropriate or dangerous situations, including anything that sexualizes children, grooming, and other predatory behavior.

mceclip4.png

We will report any child pornography or other child endangerment to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and will work with law enforcement as necessary.

No hateful content

Core is open to all creators. You may not make content that promotes hate, violence, or discrimination towards race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Respect others’ intellectual property rights

If the content is copyrighted by someone else and you do not have written permission to use it, then you may not create it in Core.

mceclip6.png

Manticore follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and other applicable laws. If you are a copyright owner and believe that content on Core infringes your intellectual property rights, please review our Intellectual Property Infringement Notification Policy for more information.

No spam, scams, or misleading data

You may not mislead others into giving personal data, financial details, or other confidential information.

No real-money gambling or promotions

Gambling and casino-style games tied to real-world currency are strictly banned. This also includes promotions for raffles, contests, and giveaways for real-world items.

If you’d like to potentially see financial success in Core, please take a look at this guide. The following video will also present some real-life success stories of monetization on Core:

Vulgar Language

Gratuitous profanity and vulgar language or language used as hate speech is not allowed.

mceclip9.png

No content related to tragic current events

Games based on traumatic current events, such as terrorist attacks, massacres, and catastrophic weather, are not allowed on the platform.

mceclip10.png

Do not evade suspension or moderation

Don’t create accounts or content to avoid suspension, bans, and moderation. This includes recreating and sharing content that has been removed from the platform for violating our Terms of Service.

mceclip11.png

Don’t cheat, hack, bot, or otherwise violate our Terms of Service

We do not allow programs or sharing hacks for the purpose of exploiting Core, games on Core, or other users on Core in any way. This includes promoting unauthorized cheats for Core games.

mceclip12.png

Do not sell, trade, or give away Core content and digital goods outside of Core

You may not resell or otherwise exchange digital goods outside of our platform. This includes selling in-game items outside of Core. You may not enable selling or trading virtual items for anything of value off of the Core platform.

mceclip13.png

Do not invade the privacy of others or share private information

Please respect others’ privacy. Do not share private personal information, including real name, location, email address, and social profiles, without permission from those individuals.

VIOLATIONS AND CONSEQUENCES

Violations are judged on a case-by-case basis and in our sole discretion. Any action we may take will consider the severity of the violation, the rule being violated, repeat offenses, and other related factors.

Actions that we may take include:

  • A warning to your account
  • Temporary or permanent suspension of your account
  • Removal of your content pending changes we request you to make
  • Permanent removal of content
  • Demonetized content
  • Loss of creator status and monetization opportunities
  • We actively work with law enforcement agencies to report threats, illegal activity, and other relevant items to them.

If you have multiple accounts, we may take action against all of them. If we find evidence of violations on platforms outside of Core, e.g. a YouTube video showing banned content, we reserve the right to take action on your account.

CREATOR ETIQUETTE AND BEST PRACTICES

Core is about creation, collaboration, and inspiration. In addition to the rules above, we suggest the following guidelines to provide players with the best experience possible.

Help other creators

mceclip15.png

Core is about creative collaboration. Whether it’s Lua help, environment design, or simply gameplay feedback, Core grows when you help others build the game of their dreams.

Share your content

While not required, we strongly recommend sharing your creations to Community Content and making your games publicly remixable. Every new idea gives the entire community new tools  – including applications you never expected. The more you share, the more everyone’s games get better. More info can be found here.

mceclip16.png

Give credit to others

Creative collaboration also means giving credit to others. If you remix a public game, use Community Content, or otherwise draw on the community to make something awesome, give them credit in scripts and readmes relevant to their contribution. If someone played a significant role or inspiration, consider a shout-out to them in your game’s description.

mceclip17.png

Be constructive with feedback
Good feedback is actionable, specific, and kind. Bad feedback contains value judgements like “this is bad”.

mceclip18.png

Enable players to contact you about support for the game

Bugs happen. Give your players a way to get in contact with you. In most cases, this can be done using in-game chat. For larger games, consider creating a bug tracker or support email.

mceclip19.png

Accurately label your content

Core uses a tagging system to mark different types of content, in a particular genre.

Questions?

It’s better to air on the side of caution, so if anything on the Core Conduct seems unclear, feel free to contact support. If you find another member that may be breaking a rule, here’s a guide on how to report them. If this is all too overwhelming and you’d like to simply check out some awesome and vetted games, made by Core Games directly, check out our developer’s page here.

Happy gaming!
